Tropical Water Infusion

I know I know, fall is no longer just around the corner, it is totally here. & as much as I love fall more than anything, I do NOT love this cold front. Please make it go away. So before I embrace the pumpkin this & pumpkin that, I will give fresh fruit a lingering goodbye.. . By dumping it into some water. I know this idea isn’t new but it’s just so good. & really helpful in drinking your daily dose of h2O. I gulped down two bottles in an hour, that’s four cups! It’s a nice mix up to that watery water taste.  & the combination possibilities are endless!. Citrus basil, strawberry mint, lemon cucumber, pineapple & sage.. . Yeah you should expect a post exploring these possibilities. This one is strawberry, mint, & pineapple. I really love the twist the pineapple gave to the classic flavor combo. & I had a bunch of raspberries that were on it’s last moments so I just threw those in for kicks. Beware, the fruit infused water should only keep two to three days. But if you take the fruit out after the second day, you can keep the water longer.

What You Need:

  • Filtered water
  • Whatever fruit & herb combo you like — no precision to this, do what sounds good.

What You Do:

  • Dump all the fruit into a pitcher of filtered water
  • Let it set for about 4-6 hours
  • Drink up!

Pucker Up Lemonade

As the end of summer begins to creep up, it makes me want to squeeze in as much of the last drops of summer as I can. Lemonade is a big summer thing for me, it’s the only thing that quenches my thirst besides water. But of course, I am extremely picky with my lemonade — I hate all that super sweet stuff. I am all about that super tart, pucker up lemonade. This totally hits the mark. I wasn’t sure about making this because I really didn’t want to pour a cup of sugar into it. There’s something about actually making things & seeing the amount of butter & sugar that goes into things that makes you a lot more conscious. So I decided to use some agave & it definitely did the trick. You may want to add a little more if you like your lemonade sweeter. For me, it was perfect. But like I said, I’m all about that pucker face.

What You Need:
  • 2 cups of fresh squeeze lemon juice (about 12 lemons)
  • 1/2 cup agave
  • 6 cups water
What You Do:
  • In a pot, heat up the agave & 1 cup of water with a few lemon peels.
  • Bring it to a boil & then just let it simmer until the agave is dissolved.
  • Add the agave “syrup” to the rest of the water.
  • Add ice or let chill.
  • Pucker up & enjoy!

Cranberry Limeade

Cranberry Limeade

Makes 1 glass

What You Need:

  • 1 cup pellegrino
  • 4 tbsp cranberry simple syrup
  • 3 tbsp simple syurp
  • 3/4 tsp lime juice

What You Do:
To create the simple syrup just melt equal parts sugar & water (I did a cup each) & let it reduce down. I then poured that into a bowl with the cranberries so that they would sweeten up (they were pretty tart. Then I made another batch of the simple syrup just for itself. However, ultimately, after making a couple individual glasses, I mixed the simple syrups together. Whatever you’re comfortable with. So, making the batches of simple syrup obviously allows for quite a few glasses, probably about 8. The recipe above is just for an individual serving. Mix it all together & you’ve got a refreshing little drink. Also, vodka would be great in this. Just saying’.
